All you late-'80s teens out there probably remember the original 21 Jump Street fervor, especially Season 3 when actor and hair babe Richard Grieco (Officer Dennis Booker) joined the hit '80s TV show. Well, Grieco, now 60, just popped up on social media and shared a sweet photo (he's got much longer hair now!) and a teaser about a new movie project.
The TV show 21 Jump Street, which followed Officer Tom Hanson ( Johnny Depp), Officer Judy Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete), and a bunch of other baby-faced undercover cops, absolutely captivated TV audiences in its time. But when Grieco, then 22, joined the cast in 1988—he not only took the John Stamos 'do to the next level of bad boy, but he also had teen fans and likely some 20- and 30-somethings, too, swooning.
In fact, Grieco and his Booker character were such a hit—and likely a bit of babe conflict for Depp, then the show's biggest star before Grieco—he only stayed one season before getting his own spinoff called Booker in 1989. Sadly, the spinoff didn't last more than that one season. After that, Grieco did a few more movies and later some video game voice work. Now it seems he's mostly working as abstract painter.
But lately ... Grieco has been teasing a movie project called The Painterin his social posts. According to IMDB, he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this new movie, and it's already in post-production, but so far no release date or synopsis is available. All we really know is he's playing a character named Elias.
In the latest tease, Grieco posts this new photo, which shows him long haired (still jet black!), happy and smiling outdoors, hanging with some unnamed young kids. In an act of extreme vague posting, he captions the photo, "a few months ago on my movie the painter, thought it was image that we all could use right now #everyone have a #great#weekend ❤️????."
