ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our Yellow Alert remains in effect for the morning due to strong winds. Strongest wind gust recorded at the ROC airport was 62 MPH at 3:55 am. We will go back to Green for the afternoon and evening as winds gradually calm down, however, it will still be uncomfortable if you’re headed out to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade unless you’re wearing proper clothing for the cold breeze. Skies will go from overcast to mostly cloudy to partly cloudy as the day goes on and highs will only be in the mid 30s.
Tomorrow a warm front will bring in a brief round of snow followed by temps rising into the low 40s. Winds will also be on the increase, becoming potentially strong overnight through Monday morning. We are closely monitoring the wind forecast but as of this morning are still Green on the Threat Tracker; make sure to check back for updates.
Due to strong warm air advection from the south we will see the mercury climb all the way back up to the mid 60s by Monday afternoon with some rounds of thunderstorms, then once a cold front passes temperatures will dramatically plummet all the way back down to below freezing Monday evening.
Stay tuned for updates on the Sunday into Monday forecast.
