1999 Friends Episode Ranked Best of All Time Is Still Hilarious 27 Years Later

Over 20 years since Friends aired its final, unforgettable episode, viewers everywhere are still streaming the phenomenally popular show every single day. And while it could be said that every episode is a winner, some are funnier than others. Every Friends devotee has their favorite, but which episode do critics consider to be the best of all?

Considering there are over 200 options to choose from, picking an all-time greatest Friends episode is no easy task. Variety managed to narrow it down to the 30 best ever episodes, though — and if you're a diehard fan, there's a good chance your own personal fave is on the list.

All the episodes contributed some sort of lasting contribution to pop culture, starting with #30: "The One with the Cop" (Season 5, Episode 16), famous for Ross (David Schwimmer) screaming "Pivot!" at his pals while they move his couch. #25 was one of the series' several Thanksgiving episodes, "The One with the Football" (Season 3, Episode 9), which sees Monica (Courteney Cox) and Ross competing for the elusive Geller Cup, while #21, "The One with Rachel's Other Sister," was another Thanksgiving episode — and our introduction to the hilarious Amy (Christina Applegate).

Along with Thanksgiving, weddings featured prominently in the list. "The One with Phoebe's Wedding" (Season 10, Episode 12) took the #15 spot, while "The One with Monica and Chandler's Wedding" (Season 7, Episodes 23 and 24) — which included Rachel (Jennifer Aniston)'s pregnancy reveal — was ranked #12.

Another wedding two-parter, "The One with Ross' Wedding," kicked off the top 10, followed by the Ross and Rachel's infamous breakup episode, "The One with the Morning After," at #9. Yet another two-parter, "The One with the Proposal" (Season 6, Episodes 23 and 24), came in eighth place, while the Hanukkah-themed "The One with the Holiday Armadillo" (Season 7, Episode 10) took the number seven position. Coming in sixth was "The One Where Ross Got High" (Season 6, Episode 9), perhaps the most famous Thanksgiving episode of all (they should've called it "The One with Rachel's Trifle").

"The One with the Prom Video" (Season 2, Episode 14), in which Ross and Rachel are declared each other's "lobsters" by Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), came in fifth, followed by "The One with all the Resolutions" (Season 5, Episode 11) in fourth place. At #3 was "The One Where No One's Ready" (Season 3, Episode 2) — which is nothing short of a comedic masterpiece, tbh — while "The One with the Embryos" (Season 4, Episode 12) came in second: "Oh! He's a transponster!" "That's not even a word!"

As for the "best" Friends episode of all time...that honor went to "The One Where Everybody Finds Out" (Season 5, Episode 14). As the title suggests, it's the one where everybody finally finds out about Monica and Chandler (Matthew Perry)'s relationship after a hilarious scene where Phoebe pretends she wants to seduce Chandler to make him admit he's dating Monica...and he ends up admitting he's in love with her.
