South African captain Aiden Markram is all set to take charge as the captain of the Manchester Super Giants in the Men's Hundred competition. He will be seen in a new role for a non-South African franchise for the first time.
The takeover of The Hundred teams by the Indian owners from the IPL has made widespread and significant changes to the competition's overall dynamics. Several big names from around the world have made it to the Hundred, with a huge amount of surplus money being used in the first-ever auction of the tournament.
The new Indian franchises owned by groups like the Sunrisers, Supergiants, and the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians owners will be rebranded and will be seen with their new captains leading from the front.
Aiden Markram, the South African captain, will be leading the Manchester Super Giants in the Men's Hundred this year. Markram was among the most expensive overseas signings in the auction. He will now be with the Lucknow Super Giants, the Durban Super Giants, and the new Super Giants franchise as well.
"It's nice to have him in three of our teams: brilliant player, outstanding human being, and also real captaincy material," Langer said. "That's one of the facets of his game that we love, his leadership."
Justin Langer opined earlier that he is the number one priority in the side and would go to any extent to have him in the side. Markram led the South Africans by example and batted stunningly in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) March 13, 2026Daniel Vettori is aiming to persuade Harry Brook to lead the Sunrisers Leeds
The English white-ball skipper Harry Brook has been cited as a leader by the Sunrisers Leeds side after he had spent two previous seasons captaining the Northern Superchargers under Andrew Flintoff.
"I think he likes the team, so maybe we can twist his arm and get him there. We'll just wait and see," said Daniel Vettori, the Sunrisers coach who has constantly been pursuing Brook to lead the Superchargers side.
"We understand Harry's commitments and how full-on he is," Vettori added. "He'll come [into the Hundred] on the back of a Test series and a white-ball series as well. He'll only be able to join up with us one or two days before the start of the [first] game."
He also said that the conversations will take place, and the likes of Mitch Marsh, Dan Lawrence, and Zak Crawley have all got captaincy experience as well.
Three confirmed captains of the Men's Hundred 2026
Several captains have already opted in for the Men's Hundred even before the auction took place. Phil Salt will be seen captaining the Welsh Fire team in the Men's Hundred competition, while youngster Jacob Bethell will be seen as a young leader for the Birmingham Phoenix team.
Sam Curran, the experienced left-arm all-rounder, has captained them on many occasions. He will be the leader of the MI London side, the new franchise rebranded from Oval Invincibles.
While Sam Billings might be the best possible choice for the captaincy for the Trent Rockets, Liam Livingstone and David Willey will be standout choices for the London Spirit for the captaincy role. For Southern Brave, Tristan Stubbs and Marcus Stoinis might be the choice for leaders.
