All good things come to those who wait, and fans of Tahereh Mafi’s Woven Kingdom book series will have to wait just a little bit longer. The fifth and final book was supposed to be released in fall 2026, but that’s no longer going to be the case.
The author announced the disappointing news on her Instagram account. While it is disappointing that the publication date is being pushed back, it comes with some good news. Not only is the novel still being worked on, but Mafi is making sure that the series fans have come to love will get a proper sendoff.
The fifth book was supposed to be released sometime in the fall, marking around a year since the release of the fourth book, Every Spiral of Fate. However, fans will need to wait until spring 2027, as she found herself needing more time with the novel to ensure the sendoff.
In her stories, she highlighted the fact that months earlier she had said that she would take more time with the novel. This has meant that the publishers have agreed to push the scheduled release back, allowing for time.
It comes amid Mafi juggling multiple other projects, as the fifth novel, affectionately known as TWK5 by fans, is not her only masterpiece right now. She is also working on a Shatter Me spinoff, Watch Me. The second novel, Release Me, will be released on April 7, 2026.
Watch Out for a Title and Cover
While delivering the bad news, Mafi also delivered some exciting updates. She is working on the book cover and title for the final novel, and she shared that these should come in the next few months.
View this post on InstagramThe question now for many fans is whether the third Watch Me novel will be delayed. This was scheduled for a spring 2027 release in a previous Instagram post, but publishers probably won’t want two novels from the same author out at the same time, even if they are in different series. It could mean that Watch Me #3 is pushed back to fall 2027.
While it is disappointing, a good series needs a quality sendoff, and we can’t argue with Mafi about needing time to craft that.
