UNC Women’s Lacrosse Dominates Cal to Stay Unbeaten

No. 1 Carolina scored 11 unanswered goals to open the game and pull away from Cal early in Berkeley Thursday, and the Tar Heels rode that wave to a 20-3 win. It’s UNC’s 30th consecutive win going back to the 2025 season, which is a new program record.

Eliza Osburn got the scoring started, but it was Addison Pattillo who stole the show, scoring four of her five total goals in a span of 8:03. Chloe Humphrey also scored in the run, but UNC’s star attacker had a relatively quiet day, finishing with only two goals. It was the first time this season Humphrey had been held without a hat trick and only the fifth time in 30 career games.

UNC extended its lead to 13-0 in the second quarter before Cal finally scored. The Tar Heels led 14-1 at halftime after Pattillo scored her fifth and final goal with 17 seconds left on the second quarter clock. Carolina dominated again in the third quarter, outshooting the Bears 10-0 and scoring five more goals to lead 18-1.

Osburn and Kiley Mottice each ended the day with hat tricks. UNC ended the day with more total goals (20) than the Bears had total shots (11).

Thursday’s win marked the fourth time in eight games this season Carolina has scored at least 20 goals. It’s also the fifth win by at least 10 goals for the Tar Heels. UNC is now 8-0 overall and 6-0 in ACC play this season and will return to action when it hosts No. 7 Florida at Dorrance Field Tuesday at 12 p.m.
