Bob Saget's widow, Kelly Rizzo is opening up about the day her husband died.
On the latest episode of her podcast, 'Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo,' the 46-year-old shared just what happened the day the Full House icon passed away in 2022 from her perspective.
Starting from the evening before where the comedian did stand up in Orlando, she recalled how happy he was with the show, which was part of a multi-stop tour.
"He truly felt like he was on top of the world," she shared of the call they had after. "He had a standing ovation, he felt like he was in comedy like he was 26 again, and it was such a reawakening for him."
Excited to get home after time on the road though, Rizzo said their other texts included him saying, "'I'm coming back home baby, I can't wait to see you.'"

The next morning, the day Saget was found dead in a Ritz Carlton hotel room due to a fatal fall, she recalls not hearing from him for hours, and while she was a bit suspicious she tried not to worry. But when she couldn't get in touch with him, especially ahead of his upcoming flight home, she called the hotel multiple times.
"Finally the hotel said, 'Okay we're going to do a wellness check' and right away my heart starts singing because I'm like, 'that doesn't sound good, but we need to do this,'" she recalled.
Describing her feelings at the time as "agony" while she didn't know what was going on, she said she was still trying not think the worst.

In a following update from the hotel, after she learned that they broke down the door of his room, she was also made aware that paramedics had arrived.
"At this point I'm thinking something bad happened, but I was thinking maybe he had a heart attack, maybe he had a stroke, maybe something happened," she said. "He just needed to be taken to the hospital and then we get an update that 'law enforcement is here but the paramedics left.'"
Still kept in the dark as to what exactly had happened, Rizzo said a friend who had come by to support her finally demanded answers—which is when a security guard ask to speak with her.
"Finally she said, 'Kelly they want to talk to you, it's a security guard,' and I was kind of bracing myself but, you can never really brace yourself, and the security guard gets on the phone with me and says, 'Is this Mrs. Saget?' and I said, 'Yes' and he said, "I'm so sorry unfortunately he passed away.'"
Becoming emotional while explaining the situation on the podcast she said, "Every time I just repeat those words it brings me right back there and I remember just falling on the floor and just like riving on the ground and screaming like an animal...just screaming 'no, no, no.'"
Still aware that she needed to compose herself, she called Saget's ex-wife Sherry Kramer with whom he shares three daughters with.
"I felt she should be the one to tell the girls," she said. "I thought that the worst news they were ever going to hear should come from their mom."
Rizzo also shared that while this was happening, she was receiving calls from Full House stars Candace Cameron Bure and John Stamos. She later learned that a sister of a hotel security guard messaged Bure offering condolences, which led to her eventually talking to Stamos. "I call Stamos [confirming the news] and he just starts screaming and falls to the ground," she said.

When it came to immediate support from the Full House crew, Rizzo mentioned that Bure was the first to arrive at her house, then came Stamos and his wife, Caitlyn McHugh, thenLori Loughlin, and Jodie Sweetin. Comedian Jeff Ross and singerJohn Mayer also arrived to support their friend's wife. "We were just all in complete and total shock," she said.
Then she recalled, seeing the news of the tragedy break on TMZ. "I felt like I was floating over my body watching this, that I'm reading an article saying, 'Bob Saget Dead at 65.'"
And while Rizzo was grateful to find out her husband "was sleeping very peacefully and he looked like he was not in any pain," per the investigator, she still struggled to grapple with the fact that her husband had died.
"I don't have a husband anymore?" she remembered thinking. "He's just not coming home ever again? It just didn't compute it, didn't make sense, then I remembered the "W" word, like I'm a widow?'"
Sharing that recounting the experience was "cathartic" for her four years later, she also noted that "even though it was the worst day of my life there was still so much beauty I can look back on and be thankful for the people in my life who got me through that."
Adding a bit of levity to the heartfelt episode, she noted, "that being surrounded by a lot of comedians on the worst day of your life is definitely helpful...it made me feel like his humor will live on...that dark gallows humor is something Bob was very famous for."
