Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby seemed ticketed to be a Baltimore Raven until the team backed out of the deal this week.
The Ravens, who were reportedly set to trade two first-round picks to the Raiders in a deal for Crosby, backed out of the trade after what they said were medical concerns brought up by his physical with the team.
Instead, the Ravens signed free agent pass rusher Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $120 million contract to open NFL free agency.
After the trade fell apart, Crosby has posted on social media that he’s committed to the Raiders.
“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote in a post on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S—.”
Crosby appeared in 15 games for the Raiders during the 2025 season, with 10 sacks and 73 total tackles in those games.
He has made the Pro Bowl each of the last five seasons, and has finished in the top-10 of Defensive Player of the Year voting twice in his career.
He also underwent surgery over the offseason to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, and had reportedly been seeking a trade away from the Raiders amid the franchise’s rebuilding efforts following a disastrous season.
As for the Chicago Bears, who were at one point betting favorites to land Crosby via trade, they still have a big need on their defensive line. The team has added players all over the defense, including safeties Cam Lewis and Coby Bryant and cornerback Elijah Hicks, but their pass rush hasn’t really been addressed yet this offseason.
Fortunately, the Bears still have assets, including an extra second-round draft pick, and this year’s draft class is considered strong for defensive linemen.
