Fans are finally learning why Whitney Leavitt and Jen Affleck fell out during Season 34 of Dancing With the Stars. As revealed in Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, now streaming on Hulu, the tension began when Whitney confronted Jen for not acknowledging that she was cast as Roxie Hart in the Broadway revival of Chicago.

Without context, that explanation might make it seem like Whitney was slipping back into her villain era, but her confusion was actually understandable. Jen’s husband, Zac, told her the big news a week earlier. So why didn’t Jen mention it to Whitney one of the many times they saw each other at DWTS rehearsals?
Whitney raised that exact question respectfully enough, only for her fellow MomToker to fire back that she didn’t feel the need to congratulate her because they weren’t actually friends.
That came as a surprise to Whitney, considering Jen, her husband and their three kids had recently crashed at Whitney’s L.A. home while waiting for their own rental to be ready. So Whitney yelled. A lot.

It seemed Jen had been holding on to two grievances. One was that Whitney was still friends with Demi Engemann, whom Jen considers her mortal enemy. The other was that she felt Whitney had essentially stolen her lifelong dream to be on Dancing With the Stars. Jen said as much back in Season 3, too, when Whitney admitted she only returned to the show to get a shot at the Mirrorball Trophy.
“From the day I met her, I told her that being on Dancing With the Stars was one of my dreams,” Jen said. “Then the minute there’s an opportunity, suddenly it’s like, ‘Oh wait, I’ve always wanted that too.’”

Addressing that particular accusation on a November 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy, Whitney told host Alex Cooper, “That’s wild. I’ve always wanted to do this show. Multiple people can have the same dream, and I’m just glad we both had the opportunity.”
Rumors of a feud began circulating after the Oct. 28 episode of DWTS, when Jen was eliminated. Cameras caught Whitney smiling briefly before covering her mouth as the hosts announced the results.

According to Whitney, the reaction was misunderstood—she was merely happy she wasn’t eliminated herself. But Jen didn’t buy it (can’t blame her, really) and retaliated by publicly saying on an Instagram Live that she wouldn’t be voting for Whitney.
“Jen knows what it’s like to be in the public eye and deal with criticism,” Whitney told Cooper. “So it didn’t feel great when she leaned into that and went on a live saying she wasn’t going to vote for me. She could have just said who she was voting for.”
She made that same point to Zac in Season 4 of Mormon Wives, when he showed up in Jen’s place to talk to Whitney about their fight. But it was clear from the jump, when he called Whitney a mean girl, that he wasn’t there to smooth things over.
“I think there’s a part of Jen that wants the world to see your true colors, because she’s sick of it,” he said. “She’s sick of you being fake to her on camera for the show, for your own gain, when in real life she knows you’re not a real friend.”
Whitney left the meeting in tears, but she sort of got the last laugh: In February, her run as Roxie Hart was extended by popular demand.
