Sirens and The White Lotusstar Meghann Fahyhas multiple exciting projects coming up, including a crime thriller TV series called The Good Daughter with Rose Byrneand a rom-com titled You Deserve Each Other, in which Fahy plays opposite Penn Badgley.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Fahy shared insight into not only those upcoming projects but also her past roles and some brand-new partnerships she has in the works.
Regarding The Good Daughter and getting to work with Byrne, Fahy said, "I've been in love with Rose for as long as I can remember. I mean, I think she's really top of my list in terms of people's careers that I admire. So, I was really thrilled to get the chance to work with her."
She continued, "The show is pretty dark. It's based off of a novel by Karin Slaughter, but it's got some comedic moments in it, and I think we had a real, incredible journey. We shot it in Atlanta last spring/summer, and it was really a special one."
In terms of those darker tones, Fahy explained, "There's definitely some tension. At the beginning of the story, Rose's character has moved away and has been gone for a while, and she sort of comes back home due to some family circumstances that have changed."
Fahy drove home again just how special and meaningful it has been for her to work with Byrne on this project.
"Rose is incredible; she's so generous. She was so supportive and easygoing, and she's just so talented that she made every component of it so much easier just by being who she is. She brought so much to the role," Fahy said. "Working with her has been a dream of mine for so long; I kind of can't believe that it happened."
"I really am her biggest fan; I just can't say enough good things about her. She's the best," Fahy added.
Fahy also expressed excitement over the upcoming movie You Deserve Each Other, which Fahy mentioned was coming out later this fall; at present, no official release date has been announced.
Regarding that role and working with Badgley, Fahy shared, "I watched You and was a fan of You, and I've been a fan of Penn's. He's such a wonderful human being, and I'm personally really excited for people to see him in this film because he's so funny. He really is so funny, and I think after doing You for so many seasons, he's able to sort of flex different muscles in the movie that we did together, and I think people are going to absolutely love it."
Fahy went on, "It's based off of a book, also. We play an engaged couple...One of us decides we don't really want to get married to the other anymore but is too afraid to call it off, so we kind of start torturing each other. It's sort of like the reverse How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, is how I describe it, which I am obsessed with that film. I mean, that was one of my favorite rom-coms. So, it's really a fun movie, and the cast is incredible."
In terms of hopes she has for future roles, Fahy expressed that she is very open, including in terms of genre and types of roles.
"I just want to keep sort of doing everything, and bouncing between genres is very exciting to me," Fahy said.
There have been rumors flying about a possible second season of The Perfect Couple, the first season of which Fahy starred in alongside stars like Nicole Kidman and Dakota Fanning—although (without giving too much away), there are reasons to suspect that Fahy's character, Merritt Monaco, wouldn't appear in a possible Season 2 of the show.
Of the unlikelihood that her character would be involved, Fahy said, "I think that's probably true."
Nevertheless, Fahy shared that the possibility wasn't off the table, "I did hear about [a possible Season 2]. I don't really know anything else about it, but I think that's so exciting and fun...Who knows; I guess anything is possible."
Of the prominence of The Perfect Couple's murder mystery genre, Fahy said, "Certainly it's a genre that I'm interested in, and I think that's true for a lot of people right now. It seems to be something that people can't really get enough of; there's so many great, bingeable shows that are murder mysteries, and I think we all kind of have an innate fascination with that."
In addition to these exciting movie and TV show roles, Fahy currently has a partnership with natural bliss creamers, as part of the new brand platform Unexplainably Blissful™. About the partnership, Fahy shared, "I think my favorite thing about the brand generally is that there's only four ingredients in the creamer, and I'm really, really picky with food and drinks and all of those things. It's so important to me to have ingredients that feel honest, and this was such a natural collaboration because I genuinely drink the creamer and did before this. So, when it came up as an opportunity, I just jumped at it."
Fahy elaborated, "I'm a huge iced coffee drinker, so, in the morning, it's a huge part of my routine. That's the first thing I do when I get up is make my coffee and then decide what I want to do from there, whether it's eat breakfast or go to the gym or if I have work to do, but I don't do anything without that morning cup of coffee, and I look forward to it when I fall asleep at night. It just really gives me this fun moment in the morning to myself."
"I like to keep it really simple, which is why the brand and I are in such alignment," she added.
