The third season of The Marlow Murder Club will start airing next week, and one of the cases will see things get personal for the trio of Judith, Suzie and Becks.
That is because, in the third and final case of the new run, Becks will find herself a suspect, when a murder takes place at a university reunion she is attending in an eerie manor house.
Judith and Suzie stars Samantha Bond and Jo Martin both spoke with Radio Times exclusively about this storyline, and Bond said that while neither of Becks's partners in crime-solving suspect actually question her innocence, "they do have to suspect her".
"It also means, because she's on the inside of the investigation and they're on the outside, there's a conflict of, what can they ask?", Bond said. "They do ask things in their roundabout way. And it’s not easy for Tanika, having the three women separated."
Meanwhile, Jo Martin said that the trio are rock solid, and that she thinks they "never for one minute believe that she's guilty of anything when things start looking a little murky".
She explained: "We hold fast, and it gives us that kind of impetus to work even harder to prove our friend’s innocence - hopefully. But how we play out is that, 'No, she could never.'
"And obviously, there's a scene where they take her lanyard from her, and our lanyard is our status, it’s used to get into places, and suddenly we're told we can't talk with her, which really is awful. But do we listen to them? I don't know. And that's a really interesting journey to go on.
"Because up front we’re all like 'No, no, no, no', but every so after something happens, you go, 'Could she? No, no, no, no, it’s Becks, there's no way. There is absolutely no way.' But it does test the friendship and if anything, makes us even stronger."
When it comes to the other two storylines this season, one will see the trio investigating the sudden death of Marlow's beloved Mayor, while the other will see a celebrity chef being found dead at the launch of his cookbook, with half the town in attendance.
