After nominations for the 2026 Oscars were revealed, film fans were quick to call out some major surprises and snubs.
When Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks teamed up to announce the nominees for the 98th annual Academy Awards on January 22, many movie fans weren’t surprised to see Sinners dominate the nominations list, with a record-breaking total of 16 opportunities to take home one of Hollywood’s most coveted trophies.
Other notable (and not surprising) contenders included Timothée Chalamet for Best Actor, Paul Thomas Anderson for Best Director, Jessie Buckley for Best Actress and Teyana Taylor for Best Supporting Actress.
Among the awards season regulars were a few more unexpected names, including Elle Fanning for Best Supporting Actress (Sentimental Value) and Kate Hudson for Best Actress (Song Sung Blue).
