NBA star Luka Doncic is involved in an ongoing custody dispute over his two daughters.
The Lakers' player has separated from his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, according to ESPN. In a statement released to the network, Doncic spoke to the decision to end his engagement with Goltes.
"I love my daughters more than anything and I've been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn't been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement," he said. "Everything I do is for my daughters' happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can."
TMZ had also reported on Tuesday, March 10, that Goltes had filed a petition seeking child support and attorney fees from Doncic. Sources close to the NBA star told ESPN that Goltes filed the petition in California, where one of his daughters only spent three months in and the other had never been. Doncic also allegedly had "no idea" the petition had been filed.
Doncic and Goltes began dating in 2016 and got engaged in 2023. The couple welcomed their first daughter Gabriela in Nov. 2023. Shortly after Doncic was traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers, they welcomed their second daughter Olivia.
Olivia was born in Slovenia and Doncic missed two games in Dec. 2025 to travel for the birth of his child. During his time in Slovenia, Doncic and Goltes got into a disagreement after he had expressed the desire to bring Gabriela back to the United States. The police were then called and it was determined that officers did not "detect any elements of criminal offense or misdemeanor." Doncic has not seen his ex-fiancée or daughters since the incident.
Doncic spoke of the visit to Slovenia, expressing, "I don't even know how to describe it. It was a lot. I was there for the birth of my daughter, so that means everything to me. But it was definitely a roller coaster."
According to ESPN, an interim injunction was filed by Doncic on Feb. 26 with Slovenian courts to seek immediate contact with his children.
