This new Paramount+ series follows a group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers. But as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries and first loves, the cadets must also face a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.

What happened in last week's episode of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy?

In "300th Night," last week's penultimate episode of Starfleet Academy, the school year is winding down and Caleb (Sandro Rosta) finally found messages his mother Anisha (Tatiana Maslany) had been leaving him in the few years since she escaped prison. With the imminent threat of Nus Braka (Paul Giamatti) hanging over the Federation, Caleb must sneak away by stealing a shuttle. He means to go alone, but SAM (Kerrice Brooks) insists on helping and then both Genesis (Bella Shepard) and Darem (George Hawkins) find themselves stuck on the shuttle as well. With no time to let them leave, they end up going with Caleb to Ukeck, where her last message was dispatched. There they find her at the trading post and the reunion is a touching one between mother and son.

When Nahla (Holly Hunter) learns where the cadets are heading and that the Venari Ral is about to take over the area, she is determined to get to Caleb and his friends first. She does so with Admiral's Vance's (Oded Fehr) knowledge and also with the help of Reno (Tig Notaro) and The Doctor (Robert Picardo). Both Jay-den (Karim Diane) and Tarima (Zoe Steiner) stow away on the Athena in the transporter, but are soon caught. Once they are out of Federation space and beam the cadets and Anisha back on board, Braka activates these Omega mines - technology he stole in the heist in Episode 106, effectively putting a barrier between the Athena and the rest of the Federation.
