HURRON, N.Y. — First responders rescued a 57-year-old Webster man who fell through the ice while fishing on Sodus Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
Wayne County sheriff’s deputies say they arrived to find the man partially submerged, about 100 yards from the shore. Crews were able to speak with the man while preparing for the rescue.
Five members of the Alton Fire Department used an airboat to rescue the man, and medical crews treated him on the shore. He was then taken to the Newark Wayne Hospital.
The North Rose, Wolcott, and Sodus fire departments, along with New York State Police, also helped at the scene.
