Read on for more information on who they are.

    David Mitchell

    Age: 51

    Twitter/X: @RealDMitchell

David Mitchell is a comedian, actor and writer who rose to fame alongside fellow comic Robert Webb as part of comedy duo, Mitchell and Webb. The pair went on to star in Peep Show, a much beloved and award-winning sitcom.

Together, the pair have written and starred in several sketch shows, with their most recent being Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping.

Mitchell's other works include Ludwig, Upstart Crow, Would I Lie to You? and now, Last One Laughing UK.

Not being a stand-up comedian himself, Mitchell admitted it was "easier" facing off with the comedians as he has experienced more comedy in situations "where no one laughs".

"You know, a show like Peep Show – no one’s laughing. And that’s no reflection on the script," he told Radio Times.

    Diane Morgan

    Age: 50

    Instagram: @missdianemorgan

Diane Morgan is an actress, comedian and writer who many will know and love for her portrayal of Philomena Cunk in Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, Cunk on Britain, Cunk on Earth and Cunk on Life.

Her other notable credits include Motherland, After Life and Mandy. This year, she'll be trying not to crack a smile as she takes part in Last One Laughing UK, and she initially thought it'd be an easy task thanks to Cunk.

She told Radio Times: "Yeah, I thought, 'Look, I’ve had loads of training here.' It’s not just when you’re talking to the experts where you have to keep a straight face, it’s for the whole shoot, whatever happens. So I went in there thinking, 'This is going to be easy.' But it wasn’t!"

    Romesh Ranganathan

    Age: 47

    Instagram: @romeshranga

Romesh Ranganathan is a comedian and actor, known for his self-deprecating comedy style. Over the years, Romesh has fronted various series including Asian Provocateur and Just Another Immigrant.

He has been hosting The Weakest Link since 2021 after taking over from Anne Robinson, and also hosts Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening alongside his mother.

While he's known for his deadpan humour, did that help him in Last One Laughing UK? Not really...

"My default is to not smile. If anything, I have to consciously show a bit more enthusiasm for stuff when it’s appropriate," he told Radio Times. "I think it puts you at a slight disadvantage, because you become a target. Mel [Giedroyc] laughs at everything so it’s arguably trickier for her, but she was a hell of a competitor."

    Amy Gledhill

    Age: 38

    Instagram: @thatamygledhill

Amy Gledhill is a comedian and actress who began her career in various sketch groups, and from 2020 to 2021 she appeared in the children's sketch show Big Fat Like before starring in comedy series Alma's Not Normal.

More recently, Gledhill starred in Harlan Coben's Run Away on Netflix and has been announced as a contestant on the upcoming series of Taskmaster.

"I was too scared to do stand-up, but then I started dating a boy when I was at university who was an open-mic comedian," Gledhill told Radio Times of her start into comedy.

"I’d go to all his gigs, and he was terrible. That’s what gave me the confidence to try it. I was living in Leeds and booked myself into a competition in Manchester and didn’t tell anyone I was going to do it. I got right through to the final, and that was about 13 years ago."

    Maisie Adam

    Age: 32

    Instagram: @maisieadam

Maisie Adam is a stand-up comedian who many will recognise from her appearances on Mock the Week, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and A League of Their Own.

Her other TV appearances include Celebrity MasterMind, Tipping Point and her stand-up special Appraisal, which is available to watch on Sky and NOW. She also co-hosts women's football podcast Big Kick Energy with Suzi Ruffell.

"I spend 90 per cent of my life in the giggles," Maisie said of her decision to appear on Last One Laughing. "If I’m on stage, if I hear a funny sound from the audience, and everybody else has clocked it, I can be derailed for a good five minutes. So the idea of getting to do the challenge in person was far too tempting."

    Mel Giedroyc

    Age: 57

    Instagram: @melgiedroyc

Mel Giedroyc is a comedian and TV presenter, best known for her longtime working relationship with Sue Perkins. The pair have co-hosted shows like Light Lunch, The Great British Bake Off and Mel & Sue, as well as the recent Win Win with People's Postcode Lottery on ITV.

Over the years, Giedroyc has led the UK's Eurovision coverage and participated in The Masked Singer, and now she's setting off on a brand new challenge: Last One Laughing.

"I used the power of my gurn," Giedroyc said of her tactic on the series. "I idolised Les Dawson as a child, and no one has ever gurned like Les. It involves a lower jaw often coming up above the upper jaw. I had to employ every muscle and every sinew of my face and body, and use the muscles on the side of my neck. I’ve given myself a very cheap jowl lift. I won’t be going to see the botox lady, unlike Jimmy Carr."

    Alan Carr

    Age: 49

    Instagram: @chattyman

Alan Carr is best known from his Chatty Man talk show, which aired from 2009 until 2017.

The comedian has been at the helm of plenty of TV shows over the years, including Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow, and currently leads Alan Carr's Picture Slam and Amanda and Alan's Italian Job.

He recently starred on The Celebrity Traitors, which he went on to win - a surprise to both himself and the nation!

For those who watched the BBC programme, he couldn't stop giggling, so how could he possibly hold it in on a show where he categorically cannot laugh?

"I often hung around the recycling bin," he told Radio Times. "I started recycling just so that no one could see my face. And, in the worst moments, I thought about my dogs being put down, which is really grim! But, hey, it got me through some difficult moments. So thank you, Bev and Joyce, looking down from doggie heaven. I owe you one."

    Gbemisola Ikumelo

    Age: 39

    Instagram: @gbemisola_ikumelo

Gbemisola Ikumelo is an actress and comedian who first rose to prominence when her sketch show Famalam debuted on BBC Three, for which she won the best female comedy performance award from the Royal Television Society.

She has since gone on to star in Black Ops, the Prime Video series A League of Their Own, and has performed in the theatre production Clyde's at the Donmar Warehouse.

Gbemisola told Radio Times that the hardest she has ever laughed was while filming this series, adding: "The laugh that came out of my mouth was actually quite scary, maybe because I was stifling it. I’ve accessed a new laugh, and I have many – an angry laugh, a flirty laugh, a 'when something is funny' laugh, and now a demonic laugh to add to it."

    Sam Campbell

    Age: 34

    Instagram: @mcdonaldscomedy

Sam Campbell is a comedian hailing from Australia, who first achieved fame in his home country as a stand-up and internet sketch comic, quickly gaining a devoted fan base.

He has since relocated to the UK and in 2022, he won the top prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his Fringe show. In 2023, he appeared and won Taskmaster and eventually went on to compete in a recent Champion of Champions.

Asked if it was rather nightmarish making jokes to an audience who cannot laugh, Sam told Radio Times: "Not so much. I don’t trust comedians. These guys have got big heads and big egos, and they’re throwing them around. They’re selfish people, and I try not to be selfish. I don’t want to be seen as having tickets on myself."

    Bob Mortimer

    Age: 66

    Instagram: @realbobmortimer

Bob Mortimer is a comedian who is best known for his comedy work with Vic Reeves, with whom he formed the group Reeves and Mortimer.

More recently, fans have enjoyed watching him star alongside Paul Whitehouse in Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.

Bob is no stranger to a game show, having appeared on the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Taskmaster and Would I Lie to You?, the latter of which he has made the most appearances on out of any guest.

But he also has the accolade of being the inaugural champion of Last One Laughing UK, and it was no easy feat stepping back into the game.

He told Radio Times: "I wondered about having an advantage, having done it before, but the moment I walked in, I thought, 'No, it’s an entirely different dynamic'. I think the first three that I clocked were Alan Carr, Romesh and David, and I thought ‘Uh-oh, I have no chance. This is tough.'"

Last One Laughing UK season 2 begins on Thursday 19 March on Prime Video. Season 1 is available to stream now.
