In what’s certainly the most newsworthy defensive line-related NFL story tonight, the Chicago Bears have reportedly agreed with free agent Kentavius Street to add some depth to their trenches up front. Terms of the agreement, however, were not disclosed. Having said that, this is very likely to be anything more than a short-term, low-cost addition for GM Ryan Poles.
Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz was first to report the deal.

Kentavius Street brings experience and speed to Chicago’s defensive line unit. His sack numbers aren’t flashy with 10.5 over his seven-year career, two of which came last season with Atlanta. However, he’s an experienced player up front who has familiarity with Dennis Allen’s system. Street played for Allen’s Saints in the 2022 season.
While the Bears have yet to make a splashy signing up front, Ryan Poles has done a nice job adding some speed and depth to the interior of his defensive line. On Monday, he signed the Colts’ Neville Gallimore to a two-year deal, and today it’s Street agreeing with Chicago. Both Gilmore and Street are quite speedy for their position, and that would go along well with the theme of Chicago’s defensive additions thus far in free agency. Ryan Poles, Dennis Allen, and Ben Johnson wanted to add more speed to that side of the ball after last season, and thus far, it’s been mission accomplished.
Despite the additions, I would still believe that defensive tackle is very much in play for the Bears with the 25th overall pick – if they’re even making it. Now, with Maxx Crosby back in play as the Ravens have backed out of that deal due to a failed physical, it’s not out of the question that Ryan Poles could re-enter that race. According to reports, Poles matched the Ravens’ offer of two first-round picks, but Vegas opted to take Baltimore’s offer due to this year’s pick being significantly higher. With the Ravens likely out of the race, could the Bears rejoin?
I would have to imagine we’ll find out sooner rather than later!
