Mr. J. C. Holder

 

Mr. J. C. Holder age 91 of Hendersonville passed into eternity at 7 p.m. Saturday evening March 7, 2026 at the Vitatility Assisted Living in Hendersonville where he had made his home since February 22, 2023. Mr. Holder, age 91, was suffering from diabetes and dementia.

    Mr. Holder is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon March 12th at 3 p.m. by his pastor, Eld. Greg Dunham. Burial will follow beside his wife Joyce in the Gazebo section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.

    He was one of ten children, three daughters and seven sons of the late Albert Raymond Holder Sr. who died January 28, 2005 at the age of 89 and Lucy Christine Wilkerson Holder who died October 4, 1988 at the age of 82 and was born Jesse Charles Holder in Trousdale County on September 4, 1934.

    Mr. Holder was preceded in death by eight of his siblings, infant brother, Ferrell Ray Holder who died at 5 days of age on September 11, 1939, an infant sister, Paulette Holder who died at 1 day of age on June 8, 1943, Barry Howard Holder who died March 5, 2010 at the age of 63, Ronnie Lee Holder who died August 6, 2018 at the age of 73, Albert Raymond Holder Jr. who died January 5, 2021 at the age of 83, Tony Lee Holder who died July 3, 2021 at the age of 76, Dwight Young Holder who died November 17, 2024 at the age of 75, and Joann Holder Pulley who died February 12, 2025 at the age of 89.

    Mr. Holder was united in marriage to Riddleton Community resident Belvia Joyce Dillehay on January 1, 1953. She preceded him in death at the age 82 on February 22, 2014 following just over sixty-one years of marriage.

    On June 24, 2013 they suffered the loss of their only son, Chattanooga resident, Ricky Dale Holder, who died at the age of 59 following complications from a heart valve replacement in Gadsen, Alabama.

    Mr. Holder was a 1953 graduate of Trousdale County High School and was an avid Yellow Jackets football fan having never missed a game as long as his health permitted.

    Following his son, Ricky’s being a student and graduating from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he and Joyce became instant Tennessee Vol fans.

    An important decision in Mr. Holder’s life was his being saved in 1945 at the age of eleven and he was baptized into the full fellowship of the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a dedicated member until his passing.

    Mr. Holder retired from the Peterbilt Corporation in Hendersonville on February 28, 2000 where he was employed for thirty years.

    Surviving is his daughter-in-law, Cathie Mizell Holder, and she and Ricky’s four children, John Holder and wife Alex, twins, Jordan Holder and Jennifer Holder Wilder and husband Justin, Jarrod Holder all of Chattanooga; four-great-grandchildren, Karson Holder, Karoline Luke, Paxton Holder, and Atlas Wilder; sister, Nancy Holder Lauderdale of Lebanon; foster son, Dusty Ray Sutton of Hendersonville.
