DWTS Star Mark Ballas to Join Partner Whitney Leavitt in Chicago

The name on everybody's lips is now going to be Mark Ballas.

After weeks of teasing an announcement, it was confirmed Tuesday, via People, that the Dancing with the Stars icon will be taking the stage with his former partner, Whitney Leavitt, in another extended run as Roxie in 'Chicago: The Musical.'

Ballas will be playing opposite to Leavitt as lawyer Billy Flynn.

While it was announced that Leavitt will be extending her Broadway run, which started on February 2, according to the outlet, she'll be back once again to perform with her former partner from April 6 to May 3.

"This secret was way too hard to keep!" Leavitt captioned her own Instagram announcement. "The incredible @markballas & I will be performing TOGETHER in @chicagomusical April 6-May3rd! Can’t wait to perform on stage together again."

Ballas for his part is no stranger to the Broadway stage as he starred in 'Jersey Boys' in 2017 and 'Kinky Boots' in 2018. As he's kept up with hisDWTS career, he's also dabbled into the world of reality TV having recently competed on Traitors, a move he told People sets him up perfectly to play to Flynn

"After spending the last few months in the world of The Traitors, where everything is about lies, murder, and deception, stepping into 'Chicago' feels like a pretty natural next move," he said. "I’m so excited to be returning to Broadway, this time as Billy Flynn, and even more excited that I get to share the stage with Whitney, who’s already killing it as Roxie Hart. I’m excited to get this partnership back together and make DWTS history."

While there's no doubt that the two have been rehearsing together for Ballas' role, as fans have been speculating they were up to something in New York, their first taste of 'Chicago' actually happened on DWTS when the pair danced a tango to the show's beloved song "Cell Block Tango." The performance led Ballas to suggest that Leavitt should make her Broadway debut.

In the weeks since she'd been taking the stage, fans both DWTS and Hulu's Secret Live of Mormon Wives have been flocking to the theater. The DWTS pros from her season and her SLOMW co-stars have all been in the audience to support her as well.

For fans that won't be able to make it to Broadway, Leavitt confirmed that her journey as Roxie will be shown on the reality show which starts up again on Thursday. ? SIGN UP for Parade’s Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox ?
