shared to Instagram revealed that the incident happened on Saturday, March 7. It also included a message directly from the former Dead Kennedys singer, who describes the event in candid detail.

“I hopped out of my bed because I needed to pee, and my left leg just collapsed under me and I fell to the floor. I couldn’t even break the fall with my left arm because it wasn’t working either. I tried to hop back up again, and I couldn’t. I realized I had ‘fallen and I can’t get up!’” he shared.

He added, “It was this point I thought, ‘Oh s–t, I’m having a stroke!’ I still have a lot of great stuff in me, but right now I gotta lotta of rehabbing to do.”

concluded, “Jello Biafra is currently hospitalized but stable. Speaking for the Alternative Tentacles family, we are all just very thankful he is okay and getting the care that he needs. We will update you all as we are able. Photo by Mielek#jellobiafra”

Biafra is a founding member and the former lead singer of the punk band Dead Kennedys. In 1978, the band launched with Biafra, East Bay Ray (lead guitarist), Klaus Flouride (bass), Ted (drums), and 6025 (rhythm guitar). According to ABC Audio, the band released four albums before splitting a decade later.

In 2001, the band reunited but tensions remained. Today, the band is still active but without Biafra.

Last month, Biafraslammed his former bandmates for playing a controversial music festival. After several bands pulled out of the Punk in the Park music festival following news of the festival’s organizer donating to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

In a fiery message shared with Stereogum, he said, “They’re taking the money $$$, and THEN pulling out? The real Dead Kennedys would never have let this happen in the first place. One more sordid reason I don’t ever want to play with them again.”

The festival has since been canceled due to the mass exodus.

    Biafra’s health story is unfolding.
