The Chicago Bears are keeping a veteran presence in their locker room, reportedly re-signing quarterback Case Keenum.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Keenum will sign a deal for two years worth $5.5 million, with a max value of $8 million.
Keenum joined the Bears as a third quarterback for the 2025 season, but did not appear in any games.
He has thrown for 15,175 yards and 79 touchdowns in his NFL career, and most recently appeared in a game with the Houston Texans in 2023.
The re-signing of Keenum certainly raises questions about the Bears’ intentions with quarterback Tyson Bagent, who served as Caleb Williams’ back-up during the 2025 season.
Bagent is set to count for $4.75 million against the Bears’ salary cap in 2026 as his two-year contract kicks in for the campaign.
There have been rumblings the Bears have been approached about potentially trading Bagent to another team, but the team has been hesitant to pull the trigger after working so hard on his development since acquiring him as an undrafted free agent.
