Typically, the Northern Lights are associated with, well, more northern areas, but every now and then countries like the U.S. get blessed with witnessing this phenomenon firsthand.

    Over the weekend of March 6 into the 7, there was a high chance of seeing the lights with the arrival of fast solar winds, according to Space.com. And though everyone thought they may have missed their window, March 9–10 could still offer an opportunity to catch this mesmerizing phenomenon due to some lingering fast solar winds.

    Where Are You Most Likely to See the Northern Lights on March 9?

    According to the current aurora view line from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC), the following states are most likely to be able to catch the dazzling display between local times of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Plus, we added some of the best locations to spot them in:

Of course, Acadia National Park also has quite a few spots for prime viewing.Michigan: Isle Royale National Park has some of the darkest skies in the Midwest, while the Keweenaw Peninsula is known for frequently displaying auroras during strong storms.Wisconsin: Newport State Park is the state's only designated dark sky park, but the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore will offer stunning reflections over Lake Superior.Montana: Glacier National Park never disappoints with aurora displays, but views from Flathead Lake will undoubtedly provide stunning open-water reflections.

    The coronal mass ejection (CME) that launched on March 6 is expected to pass closely to Earth today or this evening. Though experts are expecting it to miss, according to Martha Stewart, the blow could briefly boost geomagnetic activity and increase the chances of seeing the lights.

    To capture them, you'll need to make sure you are looking at a clear view of the horizon as far away from light pollution as possible. Sometimes they can go unnoticed by the naked eye, so be sure to use your phone's camera lens to see them in all their glory.
