Neville Gallimore, Bears agree on terms for free agent contract: Reports

The Chicago Bears have made their first outside signing of the “legal tampering” period, reportedly inking defensive tackle Neville Gallimore.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Gallimore will sign a two-year, $12 million deal with the Bears once the new league year begins on Wednesday.

Known primarily as a run stopper on the defensive line, Gallimore appeared in all 17 games for the Colts last season, with 38 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks, both of which were career highs. He also had four tackles for loss and six quarterback hits, also career highs.

Gallimore will fit into a defensive scheme that is trying to bolster its pass rushing ability, with Dennis Allen seeking out more playmakers up front for the Bears.

With Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter already in the fold, Gallimore will still get plenty of playing time, with the team looking to bolster its depth after dealing with numerous injuries on defense last season.
