A driver was wounded in a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Sunday evening, authorities said.
Illinois State Police troopers responded to the shooting in the southbound lanes near 18th Street at around 6:28 p.m. According to ISP, both vehicles involved continued southbound, and one crashed into a light pole off the expressway at 36th Street and Wentworth Avenue.
The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
As of around 9 p.m., the southbound lanes were shut down between West Cermak Road and West Harrison Street.
