Peninsula students part of biggest juried high school art show on record at NUMU

Numerous students from Peninsula-area high schools are among the 97 artists whose work has been chosen for ArtNow 2026, the annual juried show at New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) for high school students in Santa Clara County.

NUMU received more than 600 submissions from 53 high schools on the theme “Before/Between/Beyond.” Students were welcome to explore before, between or beyond as individual ideas or any combination of the three. The works selected for the show represent 36 high schools.

    This show features the largest number of artists ever to exhibit, including:

    Gunn High School sophomore Kai Knutson,  junior Ellie Chang and seniors Emerson Chang and Priyanka Rodrigues; Palo Alto High School freshman Sophia Lin; juniors Angela Fang, Ava Lin, Charlotte Liu, Hudson Press and Hailey Seto, and seniors River Wu, Karen Artola, Adam Fong and Amy Zhao; Mountain View High School freshman Makayla Horton, sophomore Lucas Nam and junior Emerson Su; Saint Francis High School seniors Kai Chappins and Sonia Ecklund; Los Altos High School sophomores Raghav Sharma, Tilly Burgart, Natalie Cheung and  Anna Davidson; juniors Ashley Avidan, Eli Hill, Mihika Kamat, Aundy Pekelsma and Mia Scott; and seniors Kennedy Hautop and Niki Tan; and Rosalía Bacon-Flores, a junior at Waldorf School of the Peninsula.

    The exhibit runs March 27-July 19 at NUMU, located in the Los Gatos Civic Center at 106 E. Main St. An ArtNow Awards Ceremony is set for May 2, 3-6 p.m. Register to attend at bit.ly/46oKiXj.
