Maryland senior state ‘A’ finalist Carly Jacobs has announced her commitment to swim for Campbell University in North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2026. She publicized the news on Instagram, writing:
I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to Campbell University to continue my athletic career in D1 swimming and academic career in nursing. Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, coaches (most importantly coach Jeb) for helping me become the athlete I am today. Thank you to my mom and ACC recruiters for helping me get to this point in my college journey. See you in fall of ‘26! Go Camels!!
A junior at Oakdale High School in Maryland, Jacobs has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her freshman year. Jacobs also trains year-round with Monocacy Aquatic Club, where she primarily specializes in IM and middle-distance freestyle.
Jacobs has been steadily improving throughout her career, but the past year was by far her biggest breakthrough. The freestyle events stood out in particular, as she dropped from 55.38 to 53.81 in the 100, 2:00.07 to 1:55.63 in the 200, and 5:16.05 to 5:10.83 in the 500. Her IMs also leveled up; she went from 2:10.48 to 2:08.57 in the 200 and a more significant 4:34.06 to 4:30.98 in the 400.
One of Jacobs’ standout meets of the past year was the MD NBAC Christmas Meet in December, where she clocked her current best times in 100 free and 500 free. She also swam her first 400 IM personal best of the season, 4:31.64, a time she later lowered at last month’s Maryland Senior State Championships.
In February, she helped Oakdale win the Fairfax County Public Schools County Championships team title, a satisfying result after the Bears were edged out by rival Urbana by just four points in 2025. It was Oakdale’s second title in three years, having won in 2024 after falling to rivals Urbana by a single point in 2023. Individually, she finished runner-up in both the 200 IM and 500 free (5:11.85), setting her current personal best in the former, and helped the team sweep the sprint free relays, leading off the 200 relay in a lifetime-best 25.61 and splitting 53.74 on the 400.
She capped the season a few weeks later at Senior State, racking up a trio of top-16 finishes. She touched sixth in the 400 IM with her current best, 12th in the 100 IM (59.98), and 14th in the 200 IM (2:11.99), and also led off Monocacy’s fifth-place 800 free relay in her current best and led off the 10th-place 400 free relay in 54.83. It was her first top-eight finish at the meet, a step up from 2025 when she had been 11th in the 400 IM and 15th in the 200 IM, her only other top-16 finishes.

Based on the results from this season’s meet, Jacobs would have landed in the ‘B’ final of the 400 IM, giving her a chance to score some points right from the start. It took times of 2:09.88 to score in the 200 IM, while 1:52.57/5:00.00 were needed in the 200/500 free.
On the team’s 2026-27 depth chart, when factoring in graduations and incoming recruits, Jacobs is projected to rank second in the 200 free, 500 free, and 400 IM, as well as fourth in the 200 IM and 100 free, meaning she will be an immediate contributor for both dual meets and the team’s relays.
Joining Jacobs in the pool this fall will be Carly Bendis (back/middle-distance free), Madelyn Blough (sprint free/fly), Allyson Deans (distance free), Josie Hoopingarner (sprint free), Molly McGuire (sprint free/breast), and Addie Vogan (breast/middle-distance free), who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
