In 1985, Stardust competed in A Song for Europe, which was the U.K.'s national selection competition show that determined who would represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. Stardust finished in third place with his entry "The Clock on the Wall."
Stardust also acted alongside his musical career, taking roles in soap operas such as Hollyoaks and theater performances like Godspell, David Copperfield: The Musical and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
After an over-40-year-long career, Stardust died in 2014 at the age of 72, just weeks before he was supposed to release his sixth studio album Alvin, which was also his first album in 30 years. A second posthumous album, Behind the Wheel, was released in 2021, ensuring that Stardust's legacy would continue long after his death.
