A homeowner with a concealed-carry license shot a burglar who had entered his garage early Saturday morning in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, authorities said.
At around 2:39 a.m., officers responded to a call of a burglary in progress along South Loomis Street near West 31st Street. Police said a 59-year-old man went into a garage and was confronted by the homeowner, who opened fire.
The suspect sustained a gunshot wound to the right calf and was taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Charges were pending as of Saturday morning.
An investigation remained underway.
