Qatar partially resumes air navigation for evacuation, cargo flights
DOHA — Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announced the partial resumption of air navigation in the country through designated contingency routes operating with limited capacity. The authority said the step was implemented in full coordination with the Qatari Armed Forces and relevant national authorities to ensure the continued provision of essential aviation services. The current phase allows a limited number of flights, primarily for passenger evacuation, in addition to cargo operations amid the ongoing regional developments.QCAA said it remains at the highest level of operational readiness and is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of passengers and aviation personnel, while maintaining the safe and efficient flow of air navigation in line with international standards. The authority added that it is continuously monitoring developments and will provide updates to the public and aviation sector partners as necessary.Passengers with confirmed airline bookings were advised to follow the latest updates regarding their flights.QCAA clarified that the current operations do not include scheduled commercial flights to and from Doha, which will resume only after an official announcement confirming the safe reopening of the country’s airspace.Separately, Hamad International Airport said it will operate a limited number of evacuation and air cargo flights on Saturday, March 7, following the authority’s announcement on the partial resumption of air navigation. The airport said the temporary closure of Qatar’s airspace remains in place due to the ongoing regional situation, noting that any additional flights in the coming days will depend on continuous security assessments by the relevant authorities.Hamad International Airport emphasized that passenger and staff safety remains its top priority, adding that normal flight operations will resume once QCAA announces the safe reopening of the country’s airspace. The airport also said it is working closely with government entities and airline partners to support affected passengers and air cargo operators.Travelers were advised not to head to the airport for the time being and to contact their airlines directly for updates regarding their flights.
