ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert is posted for Saturday for the risk of a few strong storm during the afternoon. Saturday’s weather will behave more like late May than early March. First, a warm front will bring a few showers or rumbles of thunder to maybe wake you up a little earlier in the morning than you’d like. Once in the warm sector, we’ll pop into the upper 60s and lower 70s, along with some sunshine. You’ll probably want to get out and enjoy what will likely be record warm air! But we aware that another line of storms is likely to form during the mid afternoon hours. This is the line that may produce a few stronger storms with gusty winds and perhaps some hail. Remember, if you hear thunder, it’s time to head indoors until the storms pass. This will be our first round of storms for the season, so just be prepared for it.
A cold front will bring another round of showers and possibly some thunder later in the evening, followed by much cooler air by the time you wake up Sunday morning. Despite us “springing ahead,” our temperatures will fall back into the upper 30s by morning. Clouds to start the day will clear, and we’ll see a mostly sunny sky and temperatures in the lower 50s for the afternoon. Monday looks great! We’ll see lots of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 60s.
Tuesday and Wednesday of next week still look warm, but a lake breeze and an approaching cold front may keep the warmest air south. We still have upper 60s in the forecast, but we’ll need to monitor the trend of any cooler air working in. Either way, it’ll turn much colder for the end of next week, with highs dropping back into the 30s with some snow showers to end the week.
If you’ve been looking forward to, and planning for the St. Patrick’s Day parade for months, we’re starting to get a clearer idea of what our weather may be next Saturday: chilly. At this point, we have highs in the 30s and a few flurries.
