The Maxx Crosby trade chatter has been all over the place this week, so it feels fitting to corral the latest scuttlebutt surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher.
Are the Bears offering two first-round picks for Maxx Crosby?
Trying to pin down what the Chicago Bears would offer in a Maxx Crosby trade has been a challenge. However, a Dallas sports radio host shared buzz that they had heard about Chicago’s football team being the team offering to send a pair of first-round picks to Vegas in an attempt to entice the Raiders to trade Crosby.
However, Windy City Gridiron’s Bill Zimmerman — who is pretty tied in when it comes to the Bears rumor mill — offered this as a rebuttal:
I have not heard Bears have offered two 1s. I don't think they do unless the Raiders would be willing to take a bad contract or two, even then, if the Raiders hold strong with the ask, not sure it gets done.Yes, I've been wrong before, make sure you drop that in the mentions. t.co/DAOBZcVKzI
— Bill Zimmerman (@BillTZimmerman) March 5, 2026On the one hand, there have been enough reports about the Raiders’ rumored ask of two first-round picks to make sense of this being a serious offer. But on the other hand, I feel as if this would be a done deal if the Bears offered two firsts — even if it came attached with a poison-pill contract.
As the Raiders try to replicate something similar to what the Dallas Cowboys received from the Green Bay Packers in the Micah Parsons deal, it would help their cause to float onto the rumor mill that a team that needs a pass-rusher as badly as the Bears do is offering a pair of firsts.

I’ll share this thought as I wrap up this section: My gut feeling is that the Raiders will either keep Maxx Crosby through the first wave of free agency or that he will be shipped off to the Dallas Cowboys before that frenzy gets into full swing at the start of the league year on Wednesday. By no means am I eliminating the Bears. It just feels like their interest is being leveraged to coax the best possible deal out of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who has made it clear that he is ready to make a big splash during this upcoming transactional period.

This post from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini brings along a new team to watch for in the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes:
Maxx Crosby is drawing serious interest around the league. The Dallas Cowboys are closely monitoring the situation and remain very interested, while the Baltimore Ravens are also a team to watch. GMs believe the Las Vegas Raiders are willing to work on a deal.[image or embed]
— Dianna Russini (@diannarussini.bsky.social) March 6, 2026 at 8:58 AMNotice that there is no mention of the Chicago Bears here. Hmm.
Perhaps that isn’t an accident. After all, ESPN’s Adam Schefter went on Chicago radio on Thursday and said he would be surprised if Crosby ended up in Chicago. That one league insider has the Ravens emerging as a team in the hunt for Crosby shortly after another seemingly ruled another team out is the type of thing that gets the wheels turning in my head.
To be clear, this isn’t the first mention of the Ravens in connection with Maxx Crosby. Earlier in the week, we dissected reporting from The MMQB’s Albert Breer, who listed Baltimore as a team monitoring the situation. Russini laying it out in a way in which she calls the Ravens a “team to watch” takes their rumored interest to another level. In any case, I’m keeping tabs on all of these rumored interested parties.
Cash considerations
When it comes to Maxx Crosby as a trade fit for the Bears, I can go either way. If he is on the team in Week 1, I’ll enjoy watching him come off the ege and chase down the likes of Jordan Love, Jared Goff, and J.J. McCarthy whoever ends up quarteracking the Minnesota Vikings in 2026. But if Crosby sticks with the Raiders or lands somewhere outside of the NFC North, then I’ll move on with my life.
With that being said, this feels like a good reason to trade for Crosby:
If it comes to a head, a team acquiring ED Maxx Crosby will be able to process a simple salary conversion on his contract that will drop his acquired cap hit from $30.7M, down to $7.73M.
— Spotrac (@spotrac) March 6, 2026Getting the star pass-rusher helps for obvious reasons. But a restructured contract that cuts $22.97 million off the cap number would make for a huge benefit. In theory, you could trade for Crosby and add another impact player this offseason. The Bears are forecasted to have about $33 million in cap space when the new league officially opens its doors. But looking ahead, the team projects to have $97.466 million in cap space in 2027 and a league-leading $316.653 million in cap space. Those numbers are a reflection of how few contracts the organization has on its books in those years.
To be clear, caring about the 2027 and 2028 cap situation isn’t a priority. But it is something the Bears are keeping in mind — especially since an extension for quarterback Caleb Williams is already being discussed.
