Rams keep safety Kam Curl with a 3-year deal

The Rams are bringing back another key member of their secondary, agreeing to terms on a three-year contract with safety Kam Curl, a source confirmed Friday.

The deal, reportedly worth $36 million, prevents Curl from testing free agency next week and keeps one of the Rams’ breakout stars of 2025 in the fold. Curl left open the possibility of leaving the Rams when speaking during locker room cleanout in January, but also said he wanted to play for a winning organization after the Rams’ trip to the NFC championship game.

“Just tasting the winning seasons that we had here, I want to keep winning,” Curl said at the time. “That’s obviously a big part that’s going to come down to it, but like I said, we’re just going to see what happens.”

Curl, who turns 27 later this month, originally signed with the Rams on a bargain two-year, $9 million deal prior to the 2024 season. He far outplayed that number, particularly in 2025 as he racked up 122 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions, then made the interception that set up the Rams’ winning overtime field goal against the Bears in the divisional round of the playoffs.

With the re-signing, the Rams will have 10 of 11 starters from last year’s defense back in 2026. Curl is the second member of the secondary to receive a lucrative extension from the Rams in the past four months after December’s three-year deal for safety and nickel corner Quentin Lake.

It’s also the second major deal the Rams have made to fortify their secondary this week after their blockbuster trade for All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. They still have work to do at corner this offseason with three and maybe four of their own players reaching free agency next week.

But for a group that held so much uncertainty as few as three days ago, the Rams have answered a lot of questions about the secondary this week with the two moves.
