ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester man has been found guilty of opening fire on multiple people outside a home on Rialto Street off North Clinton Avenue, killing two.
A jury found Jermaine Williams guilty of two counts of first-degree murder on Thursday. The May 2024 shooting claimed the lives of Timothy Chealey, 43, and Shatina Jones, 46.
Rochester Police say Williams was involved in a fight after a concert that night. After the fight, he drove to the house and fired over a dozen shots at a group on the porch. Chealey died on the porch from his gunshot wounds, and Jones later died from her injuries at the hospital. A third victim was injured and survived.
News10NBC spoke with Jones’ family after the shooting. Jones, from Buffalo, traveled to Rochester with her sister to celebrate her daughter’s birthday and visit family and friends. Her family remembers her as a loving mother of four, grandmother of two, and a business owner, describing her as the “rock in the family.”
U.S. marshals eventually arrested Williams in Niagara Falls and brought him back to Rochester. Williams will be sentenced on April 14 in Monroe County Court.
