WASHINGTON — The House of Representatives passed an appropriations bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of the fiscal year.
The legislation passed on Thursday by a vote of 221 to 209. Four Democrats joined Republicans in supporting the bill.
This bill is essentially the same bipartisan funding measure that the House passed in January. However, funding for the Department of Homeland Security was removed from that package, which contained full-year funding bills for other departments. Democrats had demanded more reforms to the Department of Homeland Security.
The bill will now head to the Senate for consideration.
