The driver of a van crashed into a liquor store on Chicago’s West Side Thursday, sending four people to a local hospital, authorities said.
Around 1 p.m., the driver of a white van drove through the front windows of L & J Food and Liquor on the 200 block of North Pulaski Road, at the intersection with West Lake Street.
The driver was headed westbound on Lake Street when he crashed into other cars and ultimately the building that is located adjacent to the Pulaski CTA Green Line station in the Garfield Park neighborhood.
Four people were taken to a local hospital, including one who was seriously injured, according to the Chicago Fire Department. Authorities did not specify if the driver was one of the people who was transported.
The owner of the liquor store told NBC Chicago that none of his employees were injured, but the driver appeared to have been.
Video of the scene showed the front half of the crashed van was inside the liquor store. Shattered glass, crushed bricks and other debris could be seen scattered around and underneath the van.
Crowds stopped to take pictures of the crash at the busy intersection as authorities investigated.
