ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our cold rain moves out Thursday night, leaving us with improving weather on Friday. We’ll be left with a lot of clouds, but some limited clearing may try to work in from time to time Friday afternoon or evening before it sets. A warm front lifting through on Friday night may bring a few showers or even a storm along the front.
This will set the stage for record warmth on Saturday, but also some rain and storms. Temperatures should make their way into the upper 60s and lower 70s. The record high for Saturday’s date is 68°, while we’re forecasting a high of 70°. A few showers may sprout up in the morning in the warm sector, while an approaching cold front set spark a few thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening hours. There’s the slight chance a few of those storms could produce gusty winds. So enjoy the warmth, but be aware that you may need to run indoors if you hear thunder.
That cold front will knock our temperatures back into the lower 50s for highs on Sunday, but it’ll turn into a really nice afternoon with sunshine returning. That sun and mild air will last into Monday, with highs in the 60s.
Tuesday and Wednesday will see another push of very warm air, but it’ll come with some rain once again. Tuesday will likely pop into the upper 60s, but we need to watch a lake breeze that may knock our temperatures back a bit from the forecast. A stronger breeze on Wednesday will keep us on the warm side, but an approaching cold front will bring a round of rain, and possibly some storms back to the area. This will be followed by much colder air on Thursday! In fact, it may be chilly enough for a few snow showers. Speaking of which, the St. Patrick’s Day parade is in our 10 day forecast, but it is looking like it may be a chillier one with highs in the 30s and a few snow showers.
