At the start of the day Wednesday, three local teams remained alive in the Class 5A girls basketball state tournament.
By the end of the night — after a full slate of third-round action — only one of those teams managed to keep its season intact, Windsor.
Roosevelt and Northridge saw their strong seasons come to an end.
Here is a look at how each local team fared:
No. 4 Windsor 56, No. 13 Golden 36
Windsor was again completely dominant on its home court. The Wizards (20-5) have now outscored their two state tournament foes by a combined 116-68.
Windsor has won eight games in a row heading into a quarterfinals matchup against fifth-seeded Standley Lake (21-4) — a 55-35 winner against No. 12 Frederick on Wednesday — at 11:45 a.m. Saturday at the Denver Coliseum.
The winner of Saturday’s game moves on to the semifinals Thursday against top-seeded Lutheran (22-3) or No. 9 Pueblo East (22-1).

Northridge struggled mightily on the road against one of the top teams in the 40-team state tournament.
The Grizzlies ended their season with a 16-9 record.
Green Mountain improved to 24-1 with its 22nd consecutive victory. The Rams’ sole loss came on Dec. 6, in just the third game of the season.
Green Mountain will face No. 7 Mead (19-6) in the quarterfinals at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at the Denver Coliseum.
No. 7 Mead 54, No. 10 Roosevelt 52
Roosevelt fell short of a big road victory by the most narrow of margins.
The Rough Riders ended their season with a 17-8 record.
Senior Kyla Lin Hollier and junior Ava Grosboll did much of the heavy-lifting for Roosevelt, scoring 20 and 18 points, respectively.
Hollier, who will play for Colorado State University next season, shot 7 of 9 and added 10 rebounds and three steals.
