Several Alabama players represented at 2026 NFL Combine

Twelve Alabama players performed at this year’s NFL Combine in Indianapolis from Feb. 26 to March 1 in preparation for the NFL Draft on April 23.

Feb. 26

Linebackers Justin Jefferson and Deontae Lawson started out the combine for Alabama, in addition to defensive linemen LT Overton and Tim Keenan III.

Overton came into Alabama as a five-star recruit, offering versatility to play inside the line or at the edge position. In the combine, he chose to only participate in two tests, running the 40-yard dash in 4.87 seconds and the 10-yard split in 1.7. While these numbers don’t project to elite standards, Overton measured well in arm and hand length, both important traits for his position. Keenan also didn’t post elite numbers in his testing, participating in every test other than the three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle.

Jefferson came into the combine known for his explosiveness and ability to run sideline to sideline. At the combine, Jefferson ranked eighth for all linebackers in the athleticism score, running an impressive 4.57 in the 40. Lawson elected not to perform in any measurable tests at the combine but said he would run in the 40 at Alabama’s pro day on March 25.

“I know I’m not the fastest guy [in a] straight line, but I feel like in lateral, short spaces, I feel like I can move pretty well. That’s just what I want to show,” Lawson said.

On Friday, cornerback Domani Jackson and tight end Josh Cuevas tested at the combine. Jackson posted a 4.41 in the 40 and 1.58 in the 10-yard split, which together ranked him sixth in the athleticism score out of all players at his position.

Cuevas participated in every test besides the bench press drill. Throughout his tests, he posted solid numbers all around, with his best measurable coming in the 40-yard dash, which ranked fourth out of all tight ends who tested.

Several of Alabama’s best performances came Saturday, when quarterback Ty Simpson, running back Jam Miller and wide receiver Germie Bernard all raised their stock for the NFL Draft.

While Simpson did not test in any measurables, he threw in front of his scouts at the combine. Analysts noted Simpson’s accurate throws as a positive trait for teams looking to select him as a potential starter. Sports Illustrated called Simpson’s performance the best performance of any quarterback at the combine this year.

At the running back position, Miller ran a surprising 4.42 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a time that will undeniably have more scouts paying attention. His athleticism score ranked fourth out of all running backs at the combine, and he posted consistent measurables in his jumping.

Outside of Simpson, Bernard is the Alabama player who likely raised his stock the most from the combine. Though his 40-yard dash time of 4.48 seconds ranked around the middle of prospects, his 6.71 second time in the three-cone drill caught the attention of many analysts. This time in the three-cone drill is a testament to his quickness and route-running on the field. NFL writer Tyler Brooke gave Bernard a top 50 grade for this year after his combine performance.

“[He] moves so well for a guy built like that. Great combination of physicality [and] fluidity/body control,” Brooke said in a post on X.

    March 1

On the last day of the NFL Combine, Kadyn Proctor, Parker Brailsford and Jaeden Roberts participated in several drills. Proctor ranked fifth in total score for all offensive tackles, participating in every drill besides the three-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle. Brailsford ranked fifth in vertical jump, and Roberts only participated in bench press, where he completed 25 reps.

The next event for these players will happen March 25 at Alabama’s Pro Day before the NFL Draft, which takes place April 23-25.
