Teen Mom’s Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra are giving their daughter, Novalee, the opportunity to speak about her older sister, Carly.
“With meeting Carly and spending time with Carly — one of the best things that’s ever happened — I’ve never been able to look up to somebody before and it’s the best feeling ever to have,” Nova, 11, shared on the Wednesday, March 4, episode of Dear Media’s “Cate & Ty: Break It Down” podcast. “After that interaction, I’ve been trying to be more, like, sensitive to my sisters because I noticed with Carly, how that feeling felt.”
Lowell, 33, and Baltierra, 34, appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant in 2009 and allowed cameras to document their decision to place Carly for adoption.
The couple went on to welcome three more children together: Novalee in January 2015, Vaeda in February 2019 and Rya in August 2021.

Although Lowell and Baltierra originally agreed to an “open” adoption with Carly’s adoptive parents — meaning they could receive photos and see their daughter in person once a year — things began to change when Carly got older.
In January 2025, Lowell claimed to Us Weekly that she hadn’t seen Carly in two years.
“During those few days when we were spending time with her, like, going to the zoo, it really just made me look to somebody,” Nova shared on the podcast, “and it just gave me a lot of happiness.”
When Lowell asked if it was “hard” having a sister who has been placed for adoption, Nova shared her honest answer.

While MTV has yet to announce any future plans for the franchise, Lowell previously expressed optimism that the cast will have answers before summer begins.
