PHELPS, N.Y. — A 45-year-old man has been arrested after being accused of intentionally causing a single-car crash in the Town of Phelps in February.
Dane Cook was arrested Wednesday. He is charged with assault in the first degree.
According to Ontario County sheriff’s deputies, on Feb. 20, Cook intentionally crashed the car at a high rate of speed to try and hurt the victim, who was a passenger in the car.
Cook was brought to the Ontario County Jail while awaiting arraignment. An order of protection has also been requested on behalf of the victim.
Shortly after this crash, News10NBC’s Tom Kowalski spoke with neighbors who expressed frustration over frequent car crashes through their yard.

During the crash on Feb. 20, deputies say the car crashed into multiple yards, a pool, and caused other damage.
