An indoor-outdoor Mediterranean restaurant stretching almost an entire block of the Chicago Riverwalk is set to open this spring, the restaurant’s owners announced Tuesday.
NAIA, located at 300 N. LaSalle St., will highlight Southern Mediterranean and Eastern Mediterranean cuisine under the culinary helm of world-renowned chef Athinagoras Kostakos, DineAmic Hospitality stated in a news release. The menu will encompass grilled meats, salads, pastas, seafood, flatbreads and shareable plates “designed for communal dining along the water.”
NAIA will also feature a raw bar and a Mediterranean-inspired sushi program.
Spanning 12,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space, the restaurant will include 150 feet of river frontage, as well as dramatic architectural elements.
“NAIA has been a vision in the works for nearly five years, and we’re excited to finally bring it to life along the Chicago River,” Luke Stoioff, co-founder of DineAmic Hospitality, said in the news release. “From the beginning, we set out to create more than a restaurant – a destination that blends river-centric design, culture, and Mediterranean hospitality.”
An indoor-outdoor event venue, situated on the east side of the property, will be available for gatherings with anywhere from 30 to 500 guests. The main restaurant, which is situated on the west side, will feature pergola-covered riverfront booths and a coliseum-style dining room that extends toward the water, “ensuring uninterrupted views of the Chicago River and skyline from every seat.”
Diners can also opt for an intimate experience – a semi-private chef’s table for 10.
The restaurant’s name, NAIA, references ancient Greek river deities – a subtle salute to mythology.
NAIA will aim to become an “all-day, all-season anchor” of the Chicago Riverwalk; it will be open daily for breakfast, brunch, lunch, happy hour and dinner.
