The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, March 3, approved $3.8 million to help Eaton fire-impacted households in the unincorporated area build accessory dwelling units on their property.
State funding and a partnership with San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity will provide financial assistance to at least 35 and up to 50 qualifying households to construct an ADU.
The program is meant to expand affordable housing, stabilize neighborhoods, and support recovery efforts.
“ADUs can help house displaced family members, provide rental income to offset rebuilding costs and offer long-term stability,” Supervisor Kathryn Barger said in a statement. “I fully support this meaningful investment that will help keep families in their community.”
Construction of ADUs in this program must begin or be completed by 2030. ADUs in the program must be kept affordable for middle-income households for at least 10 years, according to the county.
