‘Belle de Jour’ Star Catherine Deneuve, 82, Stuns at the Louvre Almost 60 Years After the Film Came Out

Catherine Deneuve is one of the most famous French actresses out there, and she's gotten more stunning with each year that passes.

Deneuve, 82, rose to stardom as Geneviève Emery in the romantic film musical The Umbrellas of Cherbourg. A veteran of endless French films, she's most often associated with her role in Luis Buñuel's 1967 psychological erotic drama Belle de Jour. With a career spanning 70 years, Deneuve is a legend of the cinema, no matter what country she's in.

The legendary French beauty attended the Grand Dîner du Louvre at Musee du Louvre this week in Paris, and looked every bit the classy movie star she is. With her dark blonde hair tied back into a half-updo, Deneuve is aging with grace and dazzling the crowds.

The French beauty has spoken about the difference between aging in the spotlight in France and America. In a 2016 interview with Variety, Deneuve shared that she believes America is much more obsessed with youth than her home country.

"Yes, overall, I think there are more roles for women of a certain age in France than in the U.S. Our culture is not as youth-centric. But things are changing," she added. "The question is, for how long?"

Deneuve Suffered a Stroke in 2019

In 2019, Deneuve was hospitalized after suffering a stroke, her family confirmed to Agence France-Presse. However, they said it was a “very limited stroke which is reversible.”

“Happily, she has no loss of motor function, although she will of course have to rest for a while,” the statement added.

In the wake of the incident, Deneuve seemed to come back stronger than ever. This past summer, she was honored at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
