GREECE, N.Y. — Greece Police arrested four teens and an 11-year-old after they say they stole a car.
On Monday, police say they got a License Plate Reader (LPR) alert for a stolen car in the area of Dewey Avenue. They say the car was reported stolen out of the City of Rochester.
Police say they found the stolen car on Dewey Avenue and arrested the five minors without incident. The 11-year-old was released to her parents due to her age.
The teens arrested face the following charges:
17-year-old boy: Criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle 14-year-old boy: Criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle 16-year-old boy: Criminal possession of stolen property 15-year-old girl: Criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicleAll the teens were given appearance tickets and released to their parents.
Why was the 11-year-old not charged?
News10NBC previously reported that New York State law raised the minimum age to prosecute a juvenile to 12 years old, which was changed in 2022.
Children under 12 are now referred to social services for support.
In March 2025, an 11-year-old was accused of being in a stolen car that hit the SUV of a Rochester Police Department captain. It was the second time in two weeks a child that age had been in a stolen car involved in a crash.
