Two people from Loveland were killed in a west Greeley traffic crash on Saturday.
At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Greeley police arrived to the intersection of 95th Avenue and 37th Street on reports of a two-vehicle crash, according to a Greeley Police Department news release.
Initial investigations show that a semitruck, driven by a 42-year-old man from Gilcrest, was going westbound on 37th Street and slowed down to turn south at the 95th Avenue intersection. A Subaru WRX was behind the semitruck and failed to slow down and struck the rear of the trailer, according to the release. The impact caused the Subaru to catch on fire.
The driver of the Subaru, a 49-year-old woman, and the passenger, a 36-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. The release said both were from Loveland. Their identities will be released by the Weld County Coroner’s Office pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the semitruck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Police are still investigating.
