Even as the first tickets for Metallica‘s upcoming Sphere residency in Las Vegas are about to go on sale, the band is already planning to expand their stay-put at the futuristic venue. After announcing the debut of the Life Burns Faster residency at the Sphere last week, the veteran metal band hinted on Monday (March 2) that the eight-show run will soon be expanded.
“Due to unbelievable demand (wow, guys!) SIX SHOWS are being added to our Life Burns Faster residency at Sphere in Las Vegas,” Metallica wrote in an update. The fan club presale for the six new shows — whose dates have not yet been announced — will begin on Wednesday (March 4) at 1 p.m. ET.
Fans who already have a Legacy or Fifth Member code can use it to access the new presale.
So far, Metallica revealed that the fall run of shows will continue their No Repeat Weekend tradition that began with the 2023 launch of their expansive M72 world tour. That means fans can expect no songs repeated on each Thursday and Saturday throughout the run, which so far includes shows on the following dates: Oct. 1 & 3, Oct. 15 & 17, Oct. 22 & 24 and Oct. 29 & 31.
“About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ‘23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!,’” Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said in a statement announcing the original shows. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way f–kin’ psyched to go next level!”
After residencies by U2, Phish, Dead & Company, the Eagles, Anyma, Kenny Chesney, the Backstreet Boys, Chase & Status and the Zac Brown Band, Metallica will be the first hard rock/metal band to play the venue.
