Sam Curran has issued an ultimatum for Abhishek Sharma, stating that he would have a silent night at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The all-rounder had some special praise stored for fellow teammates Will Jacks and captain Harry Brook, alongside citing the advantage of having played on the Mumbai tracks in this World Cup already.
The India vs England match will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, a ground that has given India glory on so many occasions. India won their last 50-over World Cup at this very venue back in 2011. However, England are seemingly happy to get their semi-final at this venue.
England played matches early at the Wankhede in this World Cup, though their experience wasn't pleasant out here, as they lost to the West Indies and had a very close game, winning by just four runs against Nepal. India also didn't have their best games against the USA and South Africa at this same venue.
However, Sam Curran has mentioned in the press conference that it is usually good to have some idea of the ground early on, and the Mumbai ground is a small ground with a great sporting atmosphere and some good wickets to bat on.
The English all-rounder Sam Curran has been coming to India to feature in the IPL for many years now. He has played for the Chennai Super Kings and the Punjab Kings and will next be seen in the Rajasthan Royals camp for the upcoming season.
The all-rounder is well aware of the dynamism of the Indian fans and the way they can cheer their team at the ground. He pointed out that since he was a kid, it has been a dream for a cricketer to come and play against India in a World Cup semi-final on their home soil.
"As a kid, you dream of taking on India in India in a World Cup semi. If the crowd is silent, then England will be doing well at that point. Hopefully, a nice, silent stadium, but they will be loud when it starts," said Sam Curran.
"Hope Abhishek will have a quiet game" - Sam Curran
Though Sam Curran had some special praise reserved for a few of his teammates, which included Will Jacks, the all-rounder who has loved this new role for England in the lower order, and with his occasional spin bowling. He has also backed Harry Brook to be the real pillar in the English side.
Despite all, Sam's fear has been against that one Indian batter, Abhishek Sharma. Though the left-handed batting star is yet to fire in this World Cup, England might be terrified by the glimpses of Abhishek's brutal onslaught from the last time they toured India during a series back in 2025.
While opining on Abhishek and stating about their focus on Thursday night, he extended a heartfelt remorse for people, including their own junior team, who are stuck in the Middle East.
"Our main focus is Thursday night. Hope Abhishek will have a quiet game. Sorry for everyone getting affected in the middle East, but our focus is on the Thursday night," Curran concluded.

England have not been the best performer in this World Cup. They have not played the best brand of cricket, having had several close matches against Nepal, Scotland, and later the debutants, Italy as well. However, they made their way into the semis undefeated in the Super-8 after having another set of close matches against Pakistan and New Zealand.
Curran admitted that there has been someone from time to time chipping in, though none of them has been consistent with their role. But he projected that it is a great sign that they all have adjusted to the subcontinent-like conditions well.
Curran swayed away from their former performances and opined that nothing, good or bad until now, matters; what does is their game on that one decisive day.
"It doesn't matter how we have played. It's all about one day. We all have been chipping in in different times. It's exciting. All the fans will be hoping that the perfect game will come on Thursday," Sam Curran opined.
