Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has made a wild suggestion to the PCB as he asks for financial penalties on players who failed to perform, and the money retrieved from them to be used for rewarding the high-scoring opener Sahibzada Farhan.
Pakistan not only failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 but also played their worst game in the competition. Except for one or two players, the batting department looked like a complete mess, especially against tougher opposition.
After their exit, the PCB has been slammed alongside head coach Mike Hesson for poor selections in the matches. Fans have also asked for the sacking of the skipper, Salman Ali Agha, and the snubbing of players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Nawaz, who failed to make a significant impact.
Pakistan's batters did not get going in the majority of the games. The top order was a total mess had it not been for Sahibzada Farhan, who single-handedly carried an almost dead side. Saim Ayub and Salman Ali Agha failed to reach double figures on most of the occasions.
Then comes Babar Azam, whose form is something not worthy enough to be spoken of. Azam has not only failed to score runs but has also disappointed the fans by taking in too many balls and then getting dismissed without having converted it to something major.
Latif, the former Pakistan captain, advised the PCB to impose monetary cutbacks on players who failed to perform and use that money as a resource to reward Sahibzada Farhan for having scored 40% of Pakistan's runs in the tournament.
"Cut money from the fees of players who didn't perform and give that money to Sahibzada Farhan. He scored their quota of runs himself, around 400 runs, nearly 40% of Pakistan's total. He did everyone's job alone," Rashid Latif's hilarious proposal.

PCB has imposed financial penalties on Pakistan cricketers
The PCB has already made the strangest thing happen in the history of ICC tournaments. Since Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals for the fourth consecutive time in an ICC event over the past 4 years, this financial penalty has been imposed.
Reportedly, the fine, which is around PKR 50 lakh, has been imposed on every player who was part of the squad that travelled to Sri Lanka. This fine was issued after India's defeat, with the condition that it would be dissolved if they could make it to the semi-finals.
Despite desperate attempts, Pakistan failed to make their way into the semi-finals, as their first Super-8 game against New Zealand was washed out, they lost the following game to England, and then, despite winning the last game, the margin of runs was not sufficient to qualify.
PCB likely to make massive changes to the squad
Pakistani experts have constantly asked for swaps within the team and have now issued an ultimatum to the PCB selectors. They have now opined that 'enough is enough,' and they have had enough chances for players who have been underperforming for a long time. They should be dropped now.
These claims were indirectly made about veteran cricketer Babar Azam, whose form has been a concern. Also, players like Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz might be ousted after they could not manage to lead their team to the semis.
