Police fatally shot a Washington man in order to stop him from a stabbing spree that left his mother and three other women dead.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office announced that Aleksandr Aleksandro Shablykin was shot dead by a responding deputy. The victims have been identified as the suspect’s mother, 52-year-old Zoya Anatolyevna Shabliykina, and Joanne Kathleen Brandani, 59, Stephanie Killilea, 67, and Louise Sandra Talley, 81, who all lived nearby.
Police confirmed that all of the victims died from “multiple sharp force injuries.”
The crime took place on February 24 just after 8:30 a.m. at a home in Gig Harbor, Washington. Authorities responded to the scene after Shablykin violated a no-contact order by showing up to the home.

The order was not yet valid because it had not been served, though deputies traveled to the home around 9:30 a.m. in order to serve Shablykin with the paperwork.
While police were on their way to the home, several people called 911 to report that Shablykin was actively stabbing multiple people. A deputy arrived and confronted Shablykin before opening fire.
Paramedics pronounced Shabliykina and three others dead at the scene, while a fourth victim was transferred to a hospital and later died from her injuries.
Shabliykina obtained a yearlong restraining order against her son in May 2025, claiming that he was suffering from mental health and substance abuse issues, per KING. She said that she had issues with him, including that he allegedly threatened her and said that her “grave has been already dug up.”
It’s not currently clear if the restraining order the police officers were serving at the time of the incident was the original one from 2025 or if it was a separate one.
Following the attack, Shabliykina’s daughter, Anastasiya Shabliykina, told KING that her brother had not been taking his bipolar medication.
“That was not my brother that did that … It was something else, something evil,” she said.
Shabliykina’s family has since set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help with funeral costs.

“Anna and Anastasia Shablykina, my daughter and her mother, are facing unimaginable heartbreak after losing their beloved Grandma/Mother and Uncle/Brother to a tragic incident rooted in mental health struggles,” family member Robert Knowles wrote in the page’s description. “This devastating event has left them not only grieving the loss of two cherished family members but also coping with the trauma experienced by three neighbors who selflessly tried to help when they heard cries for help. The weight of these losses and the circumstances surrounding them have created an overwhelming amount of stress and uncertainty for Anna and Anastasia.”
Knowles went on to explain that his family is “now faced with the immediate need to cover funeral expenses, seek counseling to begin the healing process, and manage the costs of moving the deceased Grandma’s belongings out of her home.”
“These financial burdens add to the emotional pain they are already enduring, making it even more difficult to find stability and peace during such a challenging time,” he added.
