Daniel Radcliffe skyrocketed to fame as a child actor in the role of boy wizard, Harry Potter.
The British actor, 36, grew up in front of the camera as Harry in all eight of the Harry Potter films. In addition to portraying the famed wizard of Hogwarts alongside Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, Radcliffe had racked up endless acclaim for roles in the theater, including a Tony Award for his role in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily We Roll Along. Radcliffe also earned praise (and an Emmy nomination) for his portrayal of "Weird Al" Yankovic in the 2022 musical parody film Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. While Radcliffe has a new NBCsitcom, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, Radcliffe revealed that he can't always live up to what Harry Potter fans expect of him.
In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Radcliffe was asked which of his lines is most quoted to him by fans. While he was sure it was something from Harry Potter, Radcliffe admitted he often disappoints fans because he doesn't remember any of the quotes they're saying to him.
"I’m sure there’s stuff from Harry Potter. The bad thing about Harry Potter being quoted to me is that it has now been long enough that unless it is a really easy quote to remember, I’ve probably forgotten the context or who said it," Radcliffe told the publication. "So sometimes Harry Potter fans will come up to me and say something, and I will look at them blankly. I can see them look disappointed, and I’m like, “I’m so sorry.”
What's The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins About?
Radcliffe takes a comedic turn next in a new NBC comedy series called The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins. He plays Arthur Tobin, a director hired by disgraced former NFL player Dinkins, played by comedy legend Tracy Morgan. Dinkins is looking to make a documentary to rehab his tarnished image, but he clashes with Tobin's more traditional taste in filmmaking.
Radcliffe said playing a stodgy Brit wasn't too challenging.
“Pretentious Englishman is not too much of a reach for me,” Radcliffe told the WSJ.
